About Sri Anjaneya Temple

Sri Anjaneya Temple in Balehonnur has gained its own importance and is the oldest temple in the town. Historically Balehonnur is known to have been an important centre. Traces of Rani Honnamma's palace, ruins of Jain Basadi, traces of British military camps, etc., among ten historical facts, it is indisputable that it was an important center.

In 1876 Sahukara K.P. Subraya Prabhu came to Balehonnur from neighboring Tattikhan and started trading near the present Anjaneya temple. This idol is very ancient and has so many peculiarities that proper information about its pre-history is not available to us. Sahukara Subraya Prabhu built a building and a roof for the idol of Sri Anjaneya Swami and started Puja for once in a day. His son Sahukara K.P Srinivas Prabhura installed the idol at the present place and started worshiping twice. Sahukara Mukunda Prabhu, adopted son of Sri K.P Srinivasa Prabhu and son of K.P Seshagiri Prabhu, built the temple along with the sanctum sanctorum in its present condition in 1946. Since then, worship and special sevas have been going on continuously in the temple.

Sri Anjaneya temple in this part of Balehonnur attracts many devotees and is attractive. The idol of Anjaneya Swami here dates back to the reign of Vijayanagara Empire. The idol of Anjaneya in this temple is in the form of Veeranjaneya who killed Ravana's son Akshaya Kumara and stands over him. The idol is about 3 feet tall and has a bell in the tail. An ancient temple of Sri Anjaneya, fulfilling the wishes of the devotees, Sri Anjaneya temple with innumerable devotees is currently very narrow and the majority of the devotees of the town wish to buy more space in front and undertake the construction and renovation work of the main entrance of the temple. A long-standing dream has now come true. This great work has been initiated by the insistence of many interested and devoted fans.

Originally this temple is worshiped and maintained by the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin Samaj of Balehonnur, the devotees of all the societies are devotees of Sri Anjaneya Swamy in large numbers and participate in all the puja programs with devotion and the blessings of Sri Anjaneya Swamy.

When Trustees met the senior prelates of Sri Kashi Mutt, Sri Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji and wished for restoration, he blessed them by giving blessings for the development of the temple and the future development of the society.
Therefore, we sincerely request all the devotees to participate in this Bhakti Purvaka Mahakarya with Tanu, Mana, Dhan Purvaka and be blessed with the grace of Sri Anjaneya Swami.
